Bob Hutchinson's private gallery During 57+ years of photography in the 48 lower states the public has never seen his photography. Bob has never displayed or sold his photography.

Bob was born in McKinney TX in January of 1941, 11 months before America's entry into World War II on December 7, 1941. His folks lived and worked throughout the war years in Shreveport, LA. From an early age Bob was interested and involved in the family owned manufacturing business.

Ballet, Tap?
After flunking ballet and tap lessons and being thrown out of piano school, Bob did well in art class. At age 10, Bob was successful in assembling and learning to ride a completely disassembled and non-running Cushman Highlander motor scooter given to him by his father. It took three months, $12.00 worth of parts and a lot of compromise and negotiating with Mom and Dad before he could ride the Cushman inside a very restricted area, close to the house.

  Caddo Lake, Karnack TX

The little country school in Blanchard, LA, then a burg 10 miles NW of Shreveport, was required to add curriculum to the 26 student, eighth grade class.  The principal brought boxes from home, set up a photo lab in a utility room and Blanchard school was teaching photography.  With Mom's help, Bob gathered up a few bucks and purchased what was then a consumer product, a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera, with flash attachment and a supply of flash bulbs.

Bob went on through life further developing his photography education, along with aviation, marketing, manufacturing engineering, wireless industry pursuits and web publishing. At age 22, Bob started construction of a Bensen Gyrocopter, finishing it in a year under the direct inspection of the FAA inspector. After a year of flying the Bensen, he sold it and further pursued off road motorcycle racing, fixed wing aviation, rifle and pistol shooting, large format photography, wilderness backpacking, whitewater canoeing and other adventurous endeavors.

Sixties
During the late sixties period Bob became dedicated to studying large format photography under the watch of Shreveport Master Photographer Jim Hampson, expert in commercial, industrial and aerial photography.

Not able to get along well with his father in the family-owned business, Bob finished advanced pilot training in 1974 and moved to Houston to fly for an industrial distributor. With this step into the booming Houston manufacturing industry, Bob was in his element. He had been training for this big industry for years. He went right into marketing tooling, manufacturing know-how and manufacturing services and went to the top of this industry while continuing to gain knowledge and experience in large and medium format photography.

After the Houston economic collapse that started at the end of 1982 and continued for four years, Bob continued to enjoy a yo-yo prosperity and founded today's Wireless Industry Association in December of 1986. Today the Trade Association is the largest of its type Worldwide.

The Association is 99% Internet based and operates an International wholesale clearinghouse service for cellular phones, accessories and parts. The Wireless Industry Association has members in forty two countries and initiates transactions involving five hundred+ million phones, accessories and parts yearly across their clearinghouse web. Bob was an early leader in Internet web publishing, publishing the Association's first web site while vacationing in Scottsdale in 1995.

Teaching Photography
In 1994 Bob went on a three-month working vacation to Mesa AZ with computer and office gear and of course photographic equipment for the wonderful outdoor photo opportunities. Shortly after arriving Bob began offering outdoor, scenic and landscape photography lessons where every class was a field trip beginning at daylight at the trail head of one of the mountain parks or hiking trails. Bob says, "Saturdays and Sundays with a maximum of eight students was great fun and wonderful exercise. I leased a nice home in Scottsdale and stayed for two years."

Throughout the years Bob has traveled to all contiguous 48 States for business and pleasure, always with camera gear. The diversity of Bob's 48 years of photography is apparent in the gallery exhibition.

Bob is the developer of the innovative Paq Pro XL medium format camera system for professional use. This inexpensive lightweight professional camera system was developed when Bob rebelled at paying five or six thousand dollars for a 6 x 9cm or 6 x 12cm format camera with professional lenses. Private Photos
Bob converted the three front rooms of his home in Houston to a private photo gallery. Photographs in the gallery are some of Bob's personal favorites with a few selected by others for printing. Most of the photographs were printed using the latest digital techniques and professional equipment.  Because Bob has utilized larger negatives over the years, many prints are large, a few to 30" x 60" size. He can print to 24" x about 48" and has larger prints done elsewhere. With 57+ years of images available Bob's range of prints is stunning.

Bob's office is in the den of the home and he says he, "Gets to live in the rest of the house, but may convert all of the house to a  photo gallery and live elsewhere".

Many of the custom cameras made or modified by him can be seen at his enthusiast web:> http://bigcamera.com
