Back The 9x19mm Parabellum (Luger)

Seems 9mmx19mm Luger cartridge semi automatic pistols, popular in Europe since 1902, were not popular in the USA until after WWII when it seemed the cartridge would become the NATO standard. Previous discrimination was distain for anything "German" after WWI. Colt started chambering 1911A1 five inch and of course the standard and lightweight commander models. The less powerful 9mm Browning cartridge, (.380 Auto) was popular in Europe and the U.S.
